CYCLOME
Cyclome is a patent-pending system that enables the measurement
of forces on a racing bike handlebar. The system comprises two
physical components, and accompanying software. The two
components are a racing bike handlebar with integrated sensors
and a control unit. They are both mounted on a racing bike or
indoor bike trainer. The results of the measurement are stored
in the control unit and can be viewed in real time on a display.
Prototyping
The handlebar was developed through an iterative process involving multiple prototypes, both on the hardware and software levels. A final series of three research prototypes has been delivered and is currently being tested in a physiotherapist practice and in the laboratory of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy at the University of Antwerp.
