FEMISET
Perineal descent is a pathological condition that affects a
significant number of older women. The condition is
characterized by an abnormal lowering of the perineum when
pressure is applied, during bowel movements. It can result in
symptoms of obstructive defecation. Femiset is a family of two
products who were designed to assist patients suffering from
perineal descent while defecating.
Clinical trial
Following an iterative design, prototyping and user testing process, the Femiset product family was developed from an initial sketch to a small series of products. A clinical trial is now being conducted at Antwerp University Hospital (UZA), with the results of this trial enabling further product optimization and the development of new insights into the pathology and its treatment.
